Who would have thought, at the beginning of January 2020, that this year would end up being like no other, ever!
I wonder if, considering all the “dooms-day preppers” and their dire warnings of the world ending in 2012 (as per the Mayan calendar), that they actually forgot to take into consideration leap years and such, and were off about the “world ending” by 8 years, and 2020 was actually the year that was predicted to be “that year when everything went sideways”.

It certainly felt that way.
Everything and anything seemed to happen in 2020, including the wild fires in Australia, the locust swarms in east Africa, murder hornets, an unprecedented hurricane season, protests around the world against racism and xenophobic violence, and even (apparently) the existence of aliens (which nobody seemed bothered with LOL) because obviously, we were all too intent on the biggest news of all, the pandemic that swept everything aside, and made us all adjust to a “new normal”.
And although vaccines have been developed in record time, which is fantastic, the virus is also mutating, and spreading faster around the world. Countries are experiencing 3rd, 4th, even 5th waves of the virus. People are still getting infected, people are still dying.
Even though we are almost at the beginning of a new year, we need to remember that, unfortunately, it’s not over yet, and we all need to pull together and keep following the guidelines of mask-wearing and social-distancing and hand-washing, to ensure that 2021 is much better that 2020 ever was.

Here’s wishing all my readers and followers, a healthier, happier, and virus-free 2021!
