All the Canadian Cards – Part 2

Just to share a belated update: we finally received our NB health cards last week.

Yay! 😀

Below is a screenshot of our Canadian cards so far:

Canadian Cards
In order: the all-important PR Card, NB Health Card, Employer Med Card (Z’s is a different one), Fredericton Library Card, and of course, Tim Hortons Rewards Card 🙂 Not shown: TD Bank cards, CostCo card

But…… we are still waiting to find out which family doctor we will be able to go to. I hope we will know by October. In the mean time, I guess at a pinch, we can go to a walk-in clinic and wait to see a GP. I certainly do need to see an optometrist sometime soon.

Anyway.

Now we have all the important cards – except our driving licences.

Yes, alas, we are still to get those.

The problem is that the written test can only be done between 9 am and 4 pm on weekdays, and that time is rather difficult since those are working hours for us. Which means we have to take a day off to do the test – since Service NB in Fredericton does not give you a specific appointment time to go through to write your test, and you have to just walk in and hope you don’t have too long a wait.

Z and I will try to get it done in the next couple of weeks, so that we can then book the actual driving test. That test date depends on availability and so sometimes can be only booked for 3 – 6 weeks later. Really hoping that it will 3 weeks and not 6 weeks, since we would very much like to have a car before the snows come. I really, really, really don’t want to have to walk everywhere in the winter.

Oh well…. one step at a time!
