(NBPNP) Information Sessions and Job Fairs 2019 – Updated (22 Nov)

Please note that there is no “Connection to New Brunswick” for the purposes of the NB Express Entry stream—that policy was ended in 2018.

Unfortunately this means attending an information session will no longer qualify you to submit an EOI

There are two immigration programs in New Brunswick which help immigrants come to the province.

  1. The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). This is a provincial, economic immigration program made possible through an agreement with the Government of Canada. The PNP selects and nominates qualified, skilled workers who intend to live in New Brunswick and contribute to the local economy.
  2. The Atlantic Immigration Pilot (AIP). This is a pilot project, unique to the Atlantic region and is an employer-driven immigration program to attract and retain global talent while supporting population growth and addressing labour shortages.

Below is a listing of the upcoming information sessions and employer-driven recruitment events. Participation at all events is by INVITATION ONLY. There are three types of events which may be posted on the website:

  1. Information Session: this is a limited-seating information session about living and working in New Brunswick and provides an overview of specific immigration pathways. The number of seats available are limited.
  2. Job Fair: this is an employer-driven event where employers invite qualified candidates to meet with them to discuss specific job opportunities. This is not open an open forum. This is NOT an open forum.
  3. Entrepreneurial Information Session: this is an information session for current Managers or Business Owners (only) looking to learn more about (and are prepared to) starting or buying a business in New Brunswick, Canada.

The steps to register and then attend are as follows:

  1. Go to the NB recruitment events web page.
  2. Register to attend an event by first selecting, “Sign Up” next to the event you want to attend below.
  3. Receive an email inviting you to attend a specific event if you are selected. You must bring a printed or electronic copy of this invitation as proof you were invited to the event. ONLY register once per event, the system will automatically remove multiple registrations for the same individual.
  4. If you are unable to attend the specific event for which you are invited, the invitation MAY NOT be used at another event in the future (the invitation is for one event). You must register for and receive an event-specific invitation.

Please note that the only way to attend an upcoming information session is by registering online. Emails asking for permission to attend or updates will be deleted with no additional response. If the registration is closed, it means that you were not selected to attend.

Confirmation emails will be sent at least one week prior to the event.

There are currently no information sessions or Job Fairs scheduled for NBPNP.

PLEASE NOTE: NBPNP have (like a few other Canadian provinces) selected potential candidates directly from the Express Entry pool and sent them Notifications of Interest to apply for NBPNP. So if you are interested in NB as a province to settle, make sure you have selected “New Brunswick” or “All Provinces” when creating your Express Entry profile.

    1. Hi Victor

I’ve not heard of NBPNP having Job Fairs in USA before. Usually if they have Job Fairs in North America, it’s either in Canada or at most, Mexico.
Please also note: this blog is about Canadian Immigration. If you wish to live and work in the US, the immigration rules there are different and unfortunately, not something I am familiar with

      1. Thanks code, am planning to migrate to Canada not USA,but I want to know if you have any idea when the next information session for Nb will be.

      2. Hi Victor

At the moment, NBPNP have not scheduled anymore information sessions or job fairs. It could be that they will have a couple in December, but I doubt it, as usually by the end November, they reach their quota for PNP candidates.

They will probably start with the info sessions and job fairs in the middle or end of January 2020 (this is based on what I have seen in the past 3 years and not guaranteed).

Also note: A lot of things have changed regarding how people are nominated for NBPNP this year – this includes the new online INB system and also NBPNP sending direct NOIs to candidates. They have also now stated that attending an information session will no longer be considered as a “Connection to NB” and therefore cannot be used to submit an EOI. So bear that in mind

  2. Hello Code Baker,

I have a question concerning the information session which was scheduled on 20th November in Ukraine, I see that it is removed from the website and you have also removed it. So is it canceled?

    1. Hello

The number of seats available for info sessions and job fairs are usually limited, so once the available numbers are reached, the registration is removed.

If you have already registered for the event, and your information matches what they are looking for, you should receive an invite to attend the event. Sometimes the invitation can come only a few days before the event. However, if you have not received an invite by the end of next week, then most likely they will not be sending an invitation to attend, unfortunately

      1. Hello

Yes, I think that would be the latest that you can expect a reply. As per the website, invitations are sent by a week before the event, but from personal experience I can say that invitations can be sent up to just 4 days before the event.

So in my opinion, 15th November would be the cut-off date to receive an invitation.

  3. kind Attention: Code Baker:

This is swamy (rvbspatnaik@gmail.com) from India and aged 45 years with experience in HR. May i know whether i could attend any of the above job fair ? is invitation is compulsory ? my IELTS was expired. Do i need to have a valid score ? If i apply for a Visit Visa for attending the same, whether this could be accepted at canadian embassy ?

    please respond.

    1. Hello

      1. You should first check for the NOC code for HR. Once you have that, you can check if that NOC is listed for the Job Fair. If not, unfortunately you will not be able to register.
      2. An invitation to attend is compulsory. You cannot just show up at the Job Fair/Information Session and hope for the best.
      3. You should re-do your IELTS exam as this is necessary for submission of EOI and also for Job Fairs.
      4. You need a minimum score of 67/100 to qualify and a Band 6 for each of the 4 sections of IELTS.
      5. Visit/tourist visa for which country? If you are attempting to try to attend a session in Canada, there is no guarantee you will get the visa in time. If you are planning for the European countries, again, you may not get the visa in time, and if you do, as per point 2, you need to first be invited to attend the session.

    2. Hi
I checked the information session which will be conducted at Geneva. They have not mentioned the NOC codes who can attend. also the information session at belegium states they wont provide connection to NB but the one for geneva doesn’t mention such.
So attending the information session will help me to fetch yhe connection.

      1. Hi Priyanka

Please note the Switzerland, France and Belgium information and job sessions are for French-speaking or bilingual candidates.
They clearly mention this on the website.

So unless you are French-speaking or bilingual, you may not get an invitation to attend the session in the first place. And remember that you cannot attend the session without being invited.

    1. Hello

You can apply to attend a session from wherever you are in the world but please remember that they might not send you an invitation to attend.

If they do send an invite, bear in mind you will need to arrange visas, flights and accomodation (if required) so be prepared for that

  4. There is Atlantic Canada live in Birmingham in November, does attending this give additional points or is it only when given job by an employer that adds to the points.

    1. Hello

Having a job offer and also having relatives who are PRs, over 18, and living in NB for the past 12 months will give you additional points for the NBPNP EOI score.

Attending the information session gives you a ‘Connection to NB’ which is one of the requirements for submitting a NBPNP EOI

  5. Hello Miss Code baker, want to know if I can apply for the job fair from Nigeria where I presently reside..Thank you

    1. Hello Adenike

Yes you can apply to the Job Fair from Nigeria, provided you have experience in one of the NOCs listed.

But please remember, if you do get an invite to attend (and the invite can come just a few days before the event), you will need to get a visa, tickets etc. and that takes time, so plan accordingly.

It’s a risk applying for a visa and booking tickets before getting the invite because there is no guarantee you will get an invite, but you can weigh your options and choose the best one for you.

      Good luck!

      1. hi sis,
Inshallah, I will be attending information section in Belgium. if my visa is approved.
I got confirmed with them whether to attend as i dont know French.
Its far away country and very costly, and hopefully it worth it.

      2. Hello sister

Although the session will be held completely in French, NBPNP have mentioned that there will be people on hand to answer questions afterwards in English.

As the NBPNP will be moving to an online system from 19 September (hopefully) this should make things easier for everyone wanting to apply.

I will definitely be posting more about the ins and outs of the new system once they have started it

Good luck and I hope everyting works out!

  6. Are there any upcoming job fairs in Dubai / UAE in second half of 2019. I have 14+ years of experience in iT industry.

    1. Hello

It is possible that NBPNP might have Job Fairs or Info sessions in UAE in September/October. Currently NBPNP does not have any Job fairs scheduled for UAE or anywhere else.

Please do keep monitoring this blog and/or the NBPNP website for updates.

In the mean time, if you have not already, you can create an Express Entry profile as NBPNP has on occasion selected candidates directly from the Express Entry pool, even if your CRS score is below the current cut-off and you do not have a job offer with them, depending on the candidate’s NOC and experience.

I believe OINP, SINP, PEI PNP and NSNP also select candidates directly from the pool without job offers.

    1. Hello Shumaila

Usually NBPNP officers go to Dubai twice a year – around February/March and then again between July – September.

Unfortunately, at the moment they have no Job Fairs or Information Sessions scheduled, but there is a possibility they may schedule a few more before the end of the year.

Please keep checking this blog and/or the NBPNP website for updates

  7. Hi! I attended the NB info session here in Manila last July 10. I also got an invitation for an interview on the same day. Yesterday, i received an email from the Human Resource Agency that interviewed me telling me that they are sorry it’s taking time to process my file and they will update me on the next few weeks. Does this mean i have a chance for AIPP nomination? Thank you!

    1. Hi Dette

First of all congrats on the interview and the progress.

If you have received a job offer from the company that interviewed you then you certainly have a great chance in receiving an AIPP nomination!

Usually what happens is that the employer will apply for a work permit for you and then submit your application for nomination, or get you to sumbit an EOI to NBPNP

      Good luck!

    2. Hi,
Where was the info session held? On this info session do you know what NOCs they were looking for? Thanks in advance!

      1. Hi! It was held in the Philippines. July8-10 in Manila and July 12-13 in Cebu.
NOC 2271 – Air pilots, flight engineers and flying instructors
NOC 3413 – Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates
NOC 4412 – Home support workers, housekeepers and related occupations
        NOC 6322 – Cooks
        NOC 6332 – Bakers
        NOC 7242 – Marine electrician
        NOC 7251 – Plumbers
        NOC 7271 – Carpenters
NOC 7272 – Marine cabinet maker
NOC 7315 – Aircraft mechanics and aircraft inspectors
        NOC 7384 – Marine mechanic
NOC 7511 – Transport truck drivers
NOC 7611 – Construction trades helpers and labourers
NOC 9461 – Process control and machine operators, food, beverage and associated products processing
NOC 9463 – Fish and seafood plant workers
NOC 9531 – Boat assemblers and inspectors
        NOC 9535 – Fibreglass laminator
NOC 9536 – Industrial painters, coaters and metal finishing process operators
NOC 9619 – Other labourers in processing, manufacturing and utilities

I think each day has different NOC but that’s the pretty sum up of what they were looking for during the sessions.

  8. Hi Miss Code Baker. Is there an information session happening in Dubai these days? I’m learning to code for one year. Good to see developers and women in tech as well. Cheers

    1. Hello Mukhammad

Thanks! My aim is to enable more women and girls to enter the Tech industry 🙂

NBPNP generally comes to the UAE twice a year. Since they have already been here earlier in the year, my opinion is they will probably schedule sessions in UAE (Dubai and Abu Dhabi) in July/August again.

NBPNP seem to be more focused on Job Fairs this year, and they have had very few Information Sessions so far. If you have an IT NOC, you should be able to attend a Job Fair if that particular NOC is listed. Usually IT, Admin and Food Services NOCs seem to be in demand in NBPNP. The only tough part of attending a Job Fair and not an Information session is that, if you do not get offered a job at the Job Fair, you cannot use the attendance as a connection to NB to submit an EOI.

Please do visit the Living in NB website and/or this blog regularly, to check on the latest sessions available.

    1. Usually the information session does not have any specific NOCs, but then when you want to submit an EOI using the info session as a Connection to NB, you will have to make sure that your NOC is one of the in-demand NOCs for NBPNP

    1. Hello

Usually NBPNP officers come to UAE twice a year: last year they were here in March and August. Keep checking this blog and/or the NB website for the next UAE dates

  9. Dear Sis,
I got only 64 points in NBPNP and NSPNP but my hb is going to sit ielts soon and we will be able to meet 67, and i also trying to get higher band score.
But i heard the information section i have registered will be held on 10 June .
Do i need to show anything at the section? Can i go ahead to attend although we haven’ meet the criteria yet.

    1. Usually, if it’s an info session, you don’t need to show anything unless they specifically ask you to bring it.
For a Job Fair, it is recommended to bring your ECA and IELTS results

      1. Understood. We haven’t received invitation letter to attend yet.
We are so worry if they send us late, as we need to apply visa and book ticket.
we never been to Arab word before, and if it held on 10 June, not enough time to search and arrange.
But my hb would like to go anyway. I heard the section will be held on 9 June in Abu Dhabi and 10 June in Dubai.’
Since you are from there, could you kindly suggest us which place should we go?
We would like to find accommodation and all that as we have to bring our 2 years old toddler along.
Thank you so much for your time.

      2. Abu Dhabi is about 2 hours away from Dubai, so you need to take that into consideration when you are making your arrangements.

The best option would be to know which session you will be attending and then book accommodation and flights as per that, especially since you have a toddler with you.

But the transportation system between Abu Dhabi and Dubai are not bad at all, so if you are sure your baby will be ok, I would say book whichever flight/accommodation comes cheaper and apply for visa right away as that takes a few days, and then plan your stay and route to the session

      3. Thank for your reply sis.
We need 4 working days for visa & need confirmed ticket to apply visa.
But we don’t dare to buy ticket as we haven’t received invitation email .
As you mentioned in your post that only 4 days prior you had received that email . In that case , we wouldnt make it i think .
We don’t want to miss this opportunities as well . Not sure what to do ?
Thinking of just arrange everything & take it as family vacation if we are not invited .
Even family vacation , it’s to rush to arrange and not cheap 😩. How nice if we receive within this week .
