So today is Z’s birthday, and in celebration of that, tonight there is full Lunar Eclipse of the Blood moon, which will be visible in the UAE from 10.24 pm (UAE time) onward. Cool. Lucky Z. Even the skies are celebrating his birthday.
About the Lunar Eclipse
This is the longest total lunar eclipse of the 21st century.
The total phase of the “blood moon” eclipse will last 1 hour and 43 minutes, during which Earth’s natural satellite will turn a spectacular red or ruddy-brown color. From start to finish, the entire celestial event will last nearly 4 hours.
The moon turns deep red or reddish brown during eclipses, instead of going completely dark. That’s because some of the sunlight going through Earth’s atmosphere is bent around the edge of our planet and falls onto the moon’s surface.
About Z’s birthday
Since it’s the only day of the week we both get off, we decided to celebrate Z’s birthday by… staying at home and watching movies. And watching the lunar eclipse. Exciting, hey? Yeah, we think so too. Honestly, for us, getting a solid 6 hours of sleep is the ultimate dream nowadays.
I did treat Z to his favourite kind of lunch (steak) – we actually went to Texas Roadhouse at the Dubai Mall – I’m not completely terrible as a wife. And we had doughnuts later.
But thanks to our work schedules, currently, when we do get time off, we prefer to vegetate at home and recharge our batteries.
In Sha Allah (God willing), next year will be more interesting.
